The Team

Myself (David), Sarah and Pru have spent the past 5 years renovating and building the Luckett Farm’s  luxury properties. Sarah and I are tailors by trade, both handy with our hands and don’t mind a bit of hard work. We started by just coming down at the weekends and working on Enfield House on our days off, but we fell in love with Devon and in 2019 decided to up sticks and move lock stock and barrel to Devon.

Enfield House is a 13th century workers cottage we bought in 2016. We then spent the next 3 years restoring it inside and out. The end result is a truly romantic retreat. This 13th century thatched cottage hideaway is an intoxicating mix of the old and new where 21st century luxuries are artfully combined with original features to create a stunning place to stay.

Luckett Farm is a 16th century farm/manor house we managed to buy in late 2019. The property had sadly fallen into a state of disrepair, our first winter ( a very wet one) was spent with tarpaulins on the thatched roof, various creatures living in our leaky roof and no heating! By the summer of 2021 we had a new

Hawkings Hideaway was actually purchased (basic shell) from some very nice people who live on what use to be my grandparents farm, where I spent a lot of my summer and winter holidays. My grandparents were called Dorothy & Frank Hawkings so we thought it only apt to name the hut after them. We started off by preparing the site where the hut was going to be located, water is supplied by a bore hole and the electric is generated from solar panels. To maximise the amazing view we built a 40 ft decking area with a wood burning hot tub, fire pit and seating. We then managed to get the hut to site without breaking it. Once on site Sarah and I then made, fitted and decorated the interior. And in October we added a great outdoor covered space/extension to the hut for when the weather is not so nice!

During the last 5 years we have been hands on with all the projects but we’ve  had wonderful friends (Dottie & Wayne) helping us and some great builders and thatchers, a special mention to Rob, Russ, Ray, Alan, Amy, Robert and John. All who have gone above and beyond, thanks.

Our Aim?

Our aim is to create amazing places for our guests to come and stay at. This part of Devon is magical and if you love the countryside then you’l definitely enjoy it. All our properties have character and have been designed to make you feel at home.

Next Project?

The Cow Shed

We are hopefully converting a barn in 2022, I call it the “Cow Shed” but I’m sure it will have a different name by the time it’s finished. It will look a amazing and has spectacular views, I can’t wait for it to be finished.

The Land

The land (20 acres) has not been properly managed for a long time, it is overgrown, wild and most of the fencing is falling down! We are slowly clearing and beginning to claim back some of the fields and areas. The aim is to introduce some farm animals over the next year or two, we will be what the locals call hobby farmers (not proper farmers). Some of the land will stay wild and we aim to start a tree planting programme. I’ve never wanted to be a gardener but we now have a large vegetable garden and we hope to grow our veg for ourselves and guests staying.
